”Enough is enough!” - Was the general feeling we had when we founded Klarna in 2005. Sweden had suffered long enough from the lack of any good payment options online. With a bit of luck you'd find that bread machine you'd been looking for, or that copy of half-life 2, at a price most stores couldn't match. But the luck could hit the other way and a dishonest store would make their way off with your bank card information; given that you could only pay by card this happened pretty often. So people weren't really willing to shop online. Klarna abroadWe might have given off the impression of only caring about e-commerce. This is of course not true. We care about other things as well. Things such as rights. We care enough, in fact, that we thought it'd be a crying shame to deny Norway, Denmark and Finland the right to shop safely online. Given the demand Sweden had showed for safe payment options we figured there would be similar demand in the rest of the Nordic region. We figured correctly. Finland especially had a huge desire for smart payment options, enough for us to decide to open our second set of offices there. KlarnaIf we were to describe Klarna in 60 letters (or 10 words) it'd go as follows: Innovative services making online shopping simpler, safer and more fun. Who are Klarna?
