The end of January marks one year since Klarna launched in Australia…
… and what an incredible year it’s been! We are proudly celebrating a number of milestones for our first twelve months, and looking to the year ahead full of excitement.
Country Head Fran Ereira says: “Klarna is obsessed with bringing a better experience to Australian shoppers and retail businesses. It’s so good to see that within our first 12 months we’ve had well over half a million customers and some outstanding retail brands join us.”
Leading retail brands such as Cotton On Group, Kookai, Adore Beauty, Luxury Escapes, Surfstitch and Peters of Kensington are now offering their consumers Klarna’s Pay in 4 option at the checkout, through their channels both online and instore.
Some of Australia’s leading fashion retail groups have also come on board and are set to go live in the near future, including:
- Country Road Group – including Country Road, Mimco, Politix, Witchery, Trenery
- Hanes Group – including Bonds, Sheridan, Berlei, Jockey, Bras N Things
- General Pants Co.
2020 was a challenging year in a lot of respects, but it also accelerated significant changes in how Australians shop and it created opportunities for innovative businesses. Klarna has been able to respond to changing consumer behaviour over the past 12 months, because we’d already made a very deliberate strategic move away from being just another (boring) payment provider and transform ourselves into a full shopping ecosystem that elevates the shopping experience for the most avid shoppers.
Fran continues: “So when consumers were forced online, we were there waiting for them with open arms and with the features they wanted, all in the one place. Klarna is the one-stop-shop where the keenest shoppers get information, convenience and perks.
“Klarna is confident we bring something really different to the Australian market – we give more inspiration and value to shoppers, and greater engagement to retailers. Australians have already started to vote with their feet and we’re only 12 months in.”
So what else to expect in 2021?
“There’s plenty of exciting developments in the pipeline – watch this space,” Fran says.
“Shoppers can expect some exciting enhancements to Klarna’s rewards club in the near future and of course we’ll be adding plenty more amazing retailers and some cool new features to our app.
“We will continue to play a leadership role in our sector through a meticulous approach to customer onboarding, credit checking and ensuring our products are appropriate for those using them; as well as partnering with retailers to deliver them additional value and insights.”
