Sweden is very family friendly. People and companies respect your work-life balance.

Senior Software Engineer - Me and my team migrate payment method application services to the new cloud-native platform.
My path: relocating from Belarus to Stockholm.
During the interview process I had the opportunity to talk with several professionals explaining how the engineering works at Klarna - which got me very interested. Once I decided to join Klarna, the next steps were surprisingly straightforward. Klarna provided all kinds of services to assist the move to Stockholm from Belarus with my wife and our three kids. I started at Klarna during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and despite the ongoing challenges I got a solid onboarding to the company and support from my team while working from home. At first, we were scared of living in a foreign country with a different language, but I actually found that almost everybody in Stockholm speaks English. I was also surprised how easy it was for our kids to start in kindergarten and in a Swedish speaking school. Overall, people are friendly and help my family to integrate into the society. I have learned that Swedish companies respect your work-life balance.
Working at Klarna.
It’s great to see a mature engineering platform with appropriate tools for engineers to deliver functionality – as well as seeing how technology and new techniques can help to deliver business value to end users. In general, I appreciate the data-driven decisions that are done here at Klarna and how my team is able to use adequate metrics in our daily work. I'm a technology geek – so if something interests me, I can spend a lot of my free time checking out new technology, applying new tools or just for benchmarking.
Something I’m unreasonably passionate about.
I love my family and try to spend as much time with them as possible. Besides that, I'm a board gamer – I have more than 200 board games in Minsk and I’m going to bring all of them to Stockholm. I’ve found some great board game shops in Stockholm and my collection continues to grow.
3 takes on Klarna.
My favourite leadership principle is ...
Challenge the status quo.
The best task of the day is ...
When investigating how to improve functionality or tweak tools in order to automate the developers’ tasks.
My biggest challenge at Klarna is ...
That there’s a lot of information to take in!
