Klarna Accounting Max Scheuerlein

Accountant - I reconcile incoming and outgoing transactions on our bank accounts to make sure customer payments are booked and matched to the correct invoices.

My path.

I used to work front of house in high-end luxury hotels. It’s where I polished my service skills and developed a problem-solving mindset which I continue to use every day here. Taking the irregular path into Accounting came after starting at Klarna within the Service competence in the Dispute Resolutions team in 2017. I initially chose Klarna because of the desire to challenge the banking industry and the ever-burgeoning availability of job opportunities. Nowadays I spend my time involved in the implementation of new products, new markets, and controlling the rapid growth of existing products. I’ve swapped silverware for settlement reports and there’s no looking back.

Working at Klarna.

Klarna creates a work environment that supports, but also tests, my ideas and ways of working. Every team and colleague is willing to listen, learn, and provide feedback on processes. This open culture accelerates my own development.

Something I’m unreasonably passionate about.

I am an ultra service-minded person. You don't hear a "no" from me. I try to help wherever and whatever the topic is.

A day in my life.

AMPMEvening
I check the news.Take a fika with my colleagues from different teams across my domain.Go to watch football games with my mates.
Get into the office between 7 and 7:30. I prefer the early quiet hours to focus.Personal follow-ups on meetings and prep work for the Klean Balance LEAP I participate in.Spend the evening with my partner with some nice food and a good movie.
I try to schedule my meetings in the morning, so I can do a personal follow up for myself during the afternoon when the memory is still fresh.I go for runs to stay in shape when I get home from work.Currently doing a lot of Skype afterworks with my friends from home and colleagues.

My favorite Leadership Principle is...

Courage - it’s the principle to speak out, give feedback but also acknowledge mistakes. It is essential in our company, otherwise we would've never been able to implement all these daring ideas over the years.

The best task of the day is ..

finishing the last reconciliation during our month-end book close process. It is a relief felt by the whole team when this task is done.

I’d describe my team as...

warm, resourceful, and funny.
