Time for celebrations! Klarna is selected as one of the companies shortlisted for the Fintech Germany Award 2020.
The annual Fintech Germany Award honors outstanding fintech companies in various categories. Out of the 223 companies that send in an application this year, the jury of 19 members chose 43 startups for the final round and the opportunity to win the prestigious prize “Fintech of the Year. One of them is us at Klarna! And we’re in great company with prominent fintech startups such as N26, Raisin, and many others.
We are of course delighted to be chosen as one of the contenders for the award. It’s a testament to the ongoing success for Klarna in the German market, which is our biggest in terms of transactional volume. Last year, we were also awarded as Fintech of the year by Transactions, which is another prestigious prize.
Klarna has grown a lot in Germany in recent years, with the acquisitions of Sofort and Billpay as accelerating factors. We currently have 3000+ employees globally, many of them working at our German offices in Berlin, Munich and Linden, and the number is steadily increasing.
What’s more interesting is how Klarna is transforming the business from being a pure payment provider to becoming a full-fledged shopping eco-system. Last year we launched a variety of new products including the Klarna Card, Instore, and our Open Banking Platform just to mention a few. And we’re just getting started! This year, we’re releasing a new version of our app that will not only revolutionize the way modern German shoppers think of shopping, but elevate their whole shopping experience.
