My data protection rights

Do you have any questions about data protection or would you like to receive further information about your personal data? We are here to help you. Depending on the nature of your request, there are two ways to contact us:

  • Deleting your personal data and terminating your customer relationship with Klarna: If you exercise your right to be forgotten, we will delete your personal data. This means that you will no longer be able to access previous orders or your account. You can place new orders again after we have successfully deleted your data. According to legal requirements, we may need to retain certain personal data even after your deletion request. If you only wish to unsubscribe from our marketing communications or remove a specific service, you can do so either in the app or by contacting our customer service.

  • Request for a copy of your personal data: We will send you an encrypted PDF file with the data we have collected about you. Please provide all email addresses you have used for Klarna.

  • Correction of your data: You can have incorrect personal data such as your name or date of birth corrected.

  • Objection to direct marketing: You can object to the processing of your personal data for marketing purposes.

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. Please note that there may be instances where the right to delete specific information may be limited. As a bank, we are required to retain certain data by law. For example; anti-money laundering, or bookkeeping laws. In addition to legal requirements, we may also retain certain information based on legitimate interest to protect both you and us, e.g. for fraud prevention purposes.

By requesting your data to be deleted you terminate all agreements you have with us.

Please note that once the deletion process has been completed, you will, for example, not be able to view historical purchases in our web portal or Klarna app, nor receive marketing materials from us.

You have the right to know what personal data we hold about you. If you request a copy of this data, you will receive it compiled in a transcript of records. This copy includes information connected to previous purchases you have made with Klarna, the Klarna products and services you have used, and notations that our Service Center agents create during or after your interactions with them. In order to provide you with your transcript of records (consumer extract), Klarna will need to confirm your identity. This is to ensure that we do not allow unauthorised persons to gain access to your details and to make sure that we successfully locate all of your data.

Please be aware that we need your complete and correct information in order for us to confirm your identity and to be able to handle your request. Klarna will not store your phone number or email, unless you have previously shared it with us for instance, by using one of Klarna's products.
