Klarnaut of the Month: Camilla Sanders.

by Andrew Washford Murphy

Curious to learn more about the ins and outs of Klarna? Desperate to get-to-know our super talented and diverse team? Well, we sat down with the recent recipient of our Klarnaut of the Month award – Camilla Sanders – to discuss her Klarna journey thus far, as well as a few other titbits…

What inspired you to work at Klarna?

I started to see the Klarna name popping up all over London, I saw the growth journey they were going on and I wanted to get involved! I really enjoy working in fast paced environments where things change quickly and no two days are the same, it makes the job exciting.

Can you describe working at Klarna in 3 words?

Dynamic, Unpredictable, Lively!

What do you love most about your job?

The people. Things move fast here, but everyone is happy to adapt, teams support each other and like to have fun at the same time.

How does what you do influence Klarna?

I work with some of the greatest brands to identify opportunities for joint marketing campaigns, this helps drive Klarna sales and brand awareness.

What did you do that got you the Klarnaut of the Month award?

I hit the ground running since I started at Klarna late 2020, and managed to get some key targeted campaigns out the door with some of the biggest brands in my portfolio.

What’s your day-to-day?

Every day is so different, but I am usually meeting with merchants alongside business development colleagues to plan a launch or to identify opportunities to run growth or awareness campaigns. There are many internal stakeholders I work very closely with – media, advertising, brand, design, comms, UK marketing, and I regularly catch up with all my co-marketing colleagues globally to share results, ideas and plan cross-region campaigns.

What surprised you about working at Klarna?

Everyone is very ambitious and focused on driving the growth of Klarna – but at the same time everyone wants to have fun and Klarna has a joyful, quirky nature so that fun comes easily.

If you could have 3 dinner guests, who would you pick and why?

  1. James Acaster – he never fails to make me laugh
  2. Elizabeth Day – she is full of wisdom and great advice
  3. Jennifer Anniston – she would bring the Friends gossip and she is just fabulous in every way

What’s your favourite purchase you’ve ever made using Klarna?

My iPad, I got into digital drawing throughout lockdown, a great way to relax after a busy day at work! I’ve also bought some summer dresses that I love from Nobody’s Child, we are yet to see summer in London though…

Who is your role model?

There are plenty of people I look up to. I’ve been really lucky to have some great managers and mentors throughout my career, they have all played an aspirational role in my life. Karen Brady has been someone I have admired in terms of being a strong woman in business, I love Elizabeth Day’s outlook on life and how she never strives for ‘perfection’. And of course, I have to mention my Mum – she really is the best!

What’s your favourite Klarna memory?

Winning Klarnaut of the month after 4 months in the business was a pretty good memory! Also meeting the team face-to-face for the first time after starting the role in lockdown, it was pretty surreal but so great to meet people IRL!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A chef! I was more into the tasting than the actual cooking though.
