Why was my Klarna Credit Card purchase declined?

There can be different reasons why your purchase with the Klarna Credit Card was declined. You can immediately see the reason either on the screen of the store’s card reader or on the store’s website. Additionally, you will receive a push notification with information about why the purchase was declined.

The most common reasons for a declined purchase are:

  • You haven’t made a purchase with chip and PIN yet
    For security reasons, the first purchase with your Klarna Credit Card needs to be made by inserting the card into the card reader and entering your PIN code.

  • You repeatedly entered the wrong PIN

  • You’ve exceeded your spending limit

  • Your Klarna Credit Card is frozen or blocked
