It’s official! Klarna has been certified by Great Place to Work in the US for creating a positive employee experience and workplace culture. Based on direct employee feedback, Great Place to Work recognizes companies that achieve high levels of trust among their staff and team members. In the US, Klarna has over 300 employees across offices in New York, Columbus, OH, and Los Angeles.

“We have an extraordinary team. It’s great to see how much they enjoy working at Klarna and the confidence they’ve placed in us. We’ve put a lot of effort into building a positive and inclusive culture, from onboarding to regular US all-hands meetings and celebrating success, to team social and wellness events,” said Mariel Henkoff, Head of People, US at Klarna. “This recognition of the culture we’ve built is particularly special given that we haven’t been able to be together in person. Last year, it was especially important for us to foster connections across the organization and between employees. As we continue to grow rapidly in the US, we look forward to finding new ways of supporting and engaging all our employees.”

According to the Trust Index survey results, 91% of employees said that Klarna is a great place to work compared to 59% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company. An overwhelming 96% of “Klarnauts” (as we call ourselves here) also indicated that they can be themselves at work and are made to feel welcome upon joining the firm, that people care about each other, and that management is honest and ethical about its business practices.

“We ended last year with massive success in the US, with a total of more than 11 million customers, and we could not have done it without our incredible people,” said David Sykes, Head of US at Klarna. “I’m amazed every day by the level of talent, commitment, and teamwork that our people have shown to the company and to each other. With so many great colleagues, we’re well positioned for a strong start in the New Year.”

In 30 years of research, Great Place to Work has found that the definition of a great workplace is about the level of trust that employees experience in their leaders, the level of pride they have in their jobs, and the extent to which they enjoy their colleagues.
