Klarna has once again been named to CB Insights Fintech 250, a high-profile list of the most innovative and rapidly growing private fintechs worldwide. This is the third year that we’ve been included and we’re especially proud to have made the list every year since its inception. This is the third annual Fintech 250 and we’re honored to be included on the prestigious list of emerging companies working on groundbreaking financial technology.
WWD reported on the news in an exclusive saying that “fintech is on fire” with Klarna as an example of one of the unicorns leading the way. The article notes that the coronavirus outbreak has shifted the growth of e-commerce and has served as a tailwind for fintech providers. The retail industry is continuously changing, and with the current times, technology plays an even greater role in propelling this transformation. Shoppers, especially those who have felt the impacts of the pandemic, want more control over their purchases, proving that the ‘buy now, pay later’ industry will continue to grow.
Klarna is well-positioned as the global leader in the ‘buy now, pay later’ space, and is continuing to push boundaries and reimagine what the payments and shopping experience can be. Retailers and shoppers around the world are enthusiastic about the value Klarna provides because we sit at the intersection of banking, retail and technology. Last week we announced the momentum we’re seeing with our retail network: More than 35,000 new retail partners joined during the first half of 2020, averaging about 200 retailers per day. Some of the most notable brands include BeautyCounter, Farfetch, NTWRK, Fender, JD Sports, Finish Line, and ModCloth.
This recognition comes on the heels of our recent announcement that we have added 14 million new consumers and 12 million monthly active Klarna app users around the globe in the first six months of 2020. globally. More people are recognizing the value Klarna delivers, particularly in-app as we have seen installations increase to more than 45,000 downloads each day.
