Klarna named to CB Insights inaugural Retail Tech 100.

Klarna has been named to CB Insights Retail Tech 100, an inaugural list showcasing the 100 most promising B2B retail tech companies in the world. As the leading global payments provider and shopping service, Klarna is the pioneer of the Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) space that is redefining how consumers shop today.
As Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski recently told CNBC, “If the last decade has really been about the disruption of retail, I believe the upcoming decade will be about the disruption of retail banking, and especially the credit card industry.”
Now more than ever, consumers are seeking alternatives to credit cards that provide more transparency and control so that they can shop on their own terms. Klarna’s popular Pay in 4 service gives customers greater flexibility and peace of mind by allowing them to buy now and pay over time without any interest or fees. This simple solution fits into people’s personal budgets and shopping needs in a way that resonates with today’s consumer lifestyles.
“We’ve seen a massive rise in popularity of Klarna’s BNPL services this year, particularly in the US where consumers are really looking to move away from credit card spending toward more sustainable payment options,” said David Sykes, Head of US, Klarna. “It’s fantastic to receive this recognition from CB Insights as we continue to work hard to deliver shopping solutions and experiences that are more seamless, convenient and customer focused, not just in the US but in key markets everywhere.”
This recognition follows our recent announcement on Klarna’s growth in the US, where we reached a record 11 million customers. The Klarna app, which allows users to shop at any online store, also has two million monthly active users in the US out of 14 million globally, and sees an average of 50,000 downloads a day – three times higher than its nearest direct competitors. The number of retailers joining the Klarna network also continues to accelerate with the addition of many well-known brands, including Coach, Club Monaco, Etsy, GameStop, HAUS LABORATORIES, Macy’s, Ralph Lauren, and Saks Off 5th.
In September, Klarna was also named for the third time to CB Insights Fintech 250, a high-profile list of the most innovative and rapidly growing private fintechs worldwide.
