Klarna was honored to be at one of basketball’s biggest events, with the “Klarna All-Star Vault,” an interactive activation celebrating the connection between fashion and basketball. The physical pop-up brought fans together with one-of-a-kind merchandise giveaways, access to some of basketball’s most coveted sneakers, a digital experience to choose Chicago Bulls All-Star (and Klarna ambassador) Zach LaVine’s pre-game look, and more. Fun fact—according to data from Klarna’s app, Zach Lavine’s jersey sales were up 59% in the two weeks leading up to All-Star Weekend!
As part of the activation, Klarna teamed up with Stadium Goods—the world’s premier sneaker and streetwear marketplace—to surprise and delight fans throughout the weekend across physical and digital channels. Customers had the opportunity to explore a gallery of iconic game-worn original sneakers curated by Stadium Goods, from the personal archives of renowned sneaker collector Gerard Starkey, viewable on-site and at KlarnaVault.com. Customers could also shop at Stadium Goods with Klarna’s flexible payment options and get entered to win one of 4 highly coveted sneakers, as well as unlock exclusive rewards and deals through Klarna on StadiumGoods.com.
In addition to partnering with Stadium Goods, Klarna is thrilled to have recently added many new sports and activewear retailers to our network, giving people more options in how and where they shop and checkout:
- Fanatics Partner Sites: Fanatics, the world’s largest provider of licensed sports merchandise, has a partner network that includes several preeminent professional leagues, including NBA, MLB and NHL, and top colleges and universities.
- BRADY: Founded by Tom Brady, Jens Grede, and Dao-Yi Chow, BRADY is the first technical apparel brand to apply two decades of pro sports level innovation and engineering to create a system of clothing that performs across every activity.
- Fitbit: From smartwatches and trackers to accessories and more, Fitbit has everything you need to find your fit.
- Academy Sports & Outdoors: One of the nation’s largest sporting goods and outdoor stores, Academy Sports & Outdoors offers a broad assortment of quality hunting, fishing, and camping equipment and gear, along with sports and leisure products, footwear, apparel, and much more.
According to Klarna’s 2021 Reopening Report, 58% of Gen Z and 45% of Millennial shoppers picked up a new outdoor hobby or activity during the lockdown, and nearly all of them plan to continue doing it for years to come. Consumers also noted one of the top considerations when shopping for outdoor items was flexible payments (43%). This represents an excellent opportunity for smart retailers. It’s no surprise that some of the biggest sports and outdoor retailers now enable millions of customers to shop and pay more flexibly through Klarna, saving people time and money while helping them be in control of their finances.
Through these collaborations, Klarna delivers unique and engaging shopping experiences to fans at the intersection of entertainment, culture, and commerce and brings them closer to the games and the brands they love.
