Loyalty programs have been a draw for customers for decades, traditionally offered by credit card providers and retailers. In June, Klarna was the first buy now, pay later service provider to offer a rewards program to our customers, called Vibe. The news created a big splash in the industry with coverage in well-renowned media outlets like Techcrunch, Business Insider, and Yahoo.
Over the summer, the no-fee Vibe program has been introduced to a small number of Klarna app users in the US, and the response has been great. More than 16,000 people have joined the club, and thousands more have expressed their interest to join as soon as it becomes available to them.
The program applies to all purchases US Vibe members make directly through the Klarna app, no matter the store, and also when using Klarna at over 200,000 partner retail stores globally. Program members earn one “vibe” (point) for every $1 they spend, and vibes can be redeemed for rewards such as gift cards from customer favorites like Starbucks, Sephora and Uber.
Since the launch, more than 2 million vibe points have been given out, and the numbers are rising quickly. In our survey, more than half of the Vibe members said they love the reward offers. We’re looking forward to continuing testing out the first iteration of Vibe, but we’re already getting fantastic feedback with more than 80 percent being happy with our loyalty program.
“With everything that’s going on with the pandemic, a reward every now and then is really nice to receive”, one Vibe user says in our survey.
“It’s a good incentive to use Klarna over other buy now, pay later providers,” says another Vibe user.
