Why can’t I make a payment to Klarna whilst travelling abroad?
If you are in, or travelling through, one of the countries where Klarna is not currently supported such as Iran, Afghanistan, or Lebanon, you may receive an Error 403 message when trying to open the Klarna app or website. This means Klarna is not available in that region.
International sanctions and other geopolitical considerations as well as technical availability may restrict financial transactions, which can limit your access to Klarna and its services while you’re abroad.
To avoid issues, be sure to do the following before you travel:
Check your government’s website for updated information regarding sanctions and restricted countries.
Make upcoming payments in advance - you can schedule or complete any upcoming payments before you leave:
Go to Payments
Select the order you want to schedule
Tap Payment Options
Choose your payment method and set the payment date
Set up automatic payments - enable Autopay so Pay later payments are withdrawn automatically on the due date.
Go to your Profile
Select Autopay
Tap Turn on to enable automatic withdrawals for Pay later payments
How can I pay off Klarna if I can’t log in to the app?
You can make a manual payment via bank transfer using Klarna’s IBAN and payment reference, which can be found in your order confirmation email.
Why is my VPN not working while travelling abroad?
Some countries, such as North Korea, Turkmenistan, and Iraq, have banned VPN use entirely. Other countries restrict or block certain VPN services. Always check local laws before travelling.
Note: you can refer to our Terms & Conditions regarding access to Klarna and Klarna’s products for more detail.
