To be eligible for a Klarna bank account you must:
Be a resident of Sweden with a valid SE address
Be 18 or older with a valid ID
Have a valid Tax ID or identification number
Have a phone number from SE
Open your personal account in the Klarna app in just a few minutes. Go to Accounts and cards and follow the steps. Once we’ve verified your identity, you can deposit money and start using your account right away. It’s free to open and use. To open a Klarna bank account, you must:
Be at least 18 years old
Have a Swedish personal identity number
Be registered as a resident in Sweden
Be able to verify your identity with Mobile BankID
Yes. You'll automatically receive a virtual card. You are not required to use your Klarna Card. If you're interested in getting the physical Klarna Card, you need a membership.

Depending on your membership, you may be charged a delivery fee when ordering your physical Klarna Card.

Your personal account in the Klarna app is a secure bank account where you can deposit and store money, pay for purchases, and get faster refunds. Add money from another bank account or card, earn cashback, and use your balance for future purchases.
From the Klarna app home screen, tap Add money. You can top up with the funding source of your choice. You can also choose to set up automatic reloads that fit your schedule.
You can make withdrawals using Swish, to a bank account, or to a connected card.
Withdraw using Swish:

Tap personal account or Main account, then Send
- 3.
Select Swish and confirm using your linked Swish number
Transfer happens instantly.
Withdraw to an external bank account:

Select your connected bank account, enter the amount, and confirm
Processing can take up to 3 business days.
You can pay in three ways:

At checkout, choose your Klarna personal account as your payment method if you have enough money in your Klarna personal account.
- 2.
Pay in stores or online with your Klarna Card using money in your account.
- 3.
For existing Klarna purchases, go to Payments, select your purchase, tap Pay early, and choose your Klarna personal account as the funding source.
Receive all your refunds directly into your personal account, regardless of which Klarna payment method you used. Faster refunds are on by default, so the money is available as soon as the retailer has processed your refund. Go to Accounts and cards, open Settings, and select Faster refunds. Change your refund preferences in the app at any time.
Your personal account is covered by the Swedish deposit guarantee in accordance with a decision by Riksgälden. The maximum compensation per customer is 1 150 000 kr. and Riksgälden will pay the compensation within 7 banking days from the date the right to compensation takes effect.
