Instalment plans, hire purchase, and revolving credit can all be confusing and difficult to compare. The advertised price rarely tells the whole story. That’s why we show you the expected average cost. Learn more about how we calculated this.

Why pay in instalments with Klarna?

  • Sweden’s fairest way to pay in instalments.

  • See the total cost upfront, with no hidden fees.

  • Choose the payment term that suits you, from three to 36 months.¹

  • Find out instantly at checkout if you’re approved.

  • Works everywhere, online and in-store.

Don’t be misled

Not all instalment plans are equally fair. With some providers, interest, fees, and the way the credit is structured can make the overall cost soar over time, especially if you miss a payment.

High interest and fees

Additional interest and fees can make the total cost much higher than you expected.

With Klarna:
Fair terms, a fixed interest rate, and complete transparency from the start. You’ll always see the total amount before completing your purchase, with no hidden fees.

Steep costs for late payments

Paying “just” the minimum amount or skipping a month may sound flexible, but it often means fees and interest keep mounting up, potentially leaving you in never-ending debt.

With Klarna:
No never-ending debt. You choose a clear payment plan with a set end date, so you know exactly when your purchase will be fully paid off.

Tempting “0% interest” offers

Many providers tempt you with 0% interest, only to add a host of hidden fees that can push the effective interest rate above 100%.

With Klarna:
We always offer a fixed interest rate with no hidden fees. What you see is what you pay.

Once the retailer ships your order, you’ll receive an email with your payment schedule.

We’ll run a credit check when you apply, and you may need to make an upfront payment.

To use Klarna payment methods with credit, you must:

  • Be a resident of Sweden

  • Be age 18 or older

  • Have a valid bank account and a good credit history

  • Be able to receive verification codes by text message

Create a Klarna account from age 15 and use non-credit payment methods, such as bank transfers and card payments.

We’ll always send you a reminder before taking your payment, so you know what to expect. If the payment doesn’t go through, we’ll try again. If you have Autopay enabled, we’ll automatically make up to two more attempts. We’ll notify you after each failed attempt.

If the payment still doesn’t go through, a reminder fee may apply:

  • 29 kr if your instalment is under 60 kr

  • 60 kr if your instalment is 60 kr or more

It depends on your agreement. Your first payment is due one month after the retailer ships your order. After that, monthly payments are due on the same date. Some purchases require an upfront payment. View your payment schedule and upcoming payments anytime in the Klarna app.
