Mitchell Barnett.
At Klarna, I always feel like I’m developing.

Senior Business Operations Specialist - I am responsible for onboarding our new colleagues into the company.
My path.
I kicked off my career at Klarna with a role in the Customer Service UK team in 2016. It was the best introduction to a new career and country - a big, engaging team focused on providing great customer service. After a few months, I became the Key User, or Process Expert, for the team and was responsible for creating routines and maintaining documentation. This led me into a role in the Customer Relations Management team where I worked towards improving the customer experience for our consumers and merchants. At the start of 2020, I joined the Onboarding team and took on the Business Operations competence. I have always been interested in teaching and learning and this team was the perfect fit in allowing me to develop in this area.
Working at Klarna.
I always feel like I’m developing at Klarna. I’m surrounded by high performing colleagues who are all-round bar raisers. My leads push me to take on new challenges that are out of my comfort zone. Before Klarna, I didn’t feel comfortable presenting to large groups but now it’s part of my responsibilities to present to the many new Klarnauts who join us every month - it’s really enjoyable!
Something I’m unreasonably passionate about.
I’m passionate about learning; it’s fun to take in new information. For the most part, the things I’m interested in learning are pretty useless and include a lot of fun facts, but it feels good to constantly develop and be around those who feel the same way and want to share their knowledge!
A day in my life.

Arrive at work and join my team for the morning stand-up. | Catch up with colleagues over a coffee or fika break. | Catch up with some friends while playing PC games. |
If it’s a week where we have our new colleagues starting their career at Klarna then I’m straight into leading and presenting sessions as part of our Klarna Check-in. | Watch a presentation or brown bag on an interesting topic. | Spend some time playing a new piece on my piano. |
Plan ahead for my day or week. | Work on some improvements or learning projects. | Catch up with a show on Netflix. |
3 takes on Klarna.
My favorite Leadership Principle is...
Customer Obsession, as it makes me consider who really are my customers in Klarna and whether they are internal to the company or our consumers and merchants.
The best task of the day is...
presenting and leading our Klarna Check-in program. I have the pleasure of meeting and getting to know so many new people and get so much energy from their engagement.
I’d describe my team as...
fun, focused, and sociable. It’s a small team of four and it’s a lot of fun to have meetings together. We each have our own skills and interests that we bring to the team that makes working together very enjoyable.
