Tom Ruhne.
At Klarna, I try things out and see what works.

Solutions Engineer - I make sure that my team has the right tools and internal support to build on new and existing partnerships from across the world.
My path.
Klarna is truly an international company - when I first started out I was the only Swede in my entire domain. And it makes sense because my work is so globally focused, with every member of my current team working from a different country. I’ve worked as a Solutions Engineer since joining in 2018, my primary focus was initially In-store partnerships with Payment Service Providers (PSPs). I quickly became interested in expanding my scope and learning about our merchant facing products which eventually led to working with native partnerships. I’ve recently taken on the role of acting Accountable Lead for my team where I support people in both Commercial and Solutions & Delivery roles.
Working at Klarna.
I joined Klarna for a multitude of reasons, but the agile approach to try things out and see what works highly interested me. I’ve stayed on for the ride because of the ever-changing work environment, the fast-paced tempo, and the great people that you get to know and team up with to solve the next puzzle thrown at you.
Something I’m unreasonably passionate about.
Making things from scratch, regardless if it's building a web page without frameworks or creating a wooden cabinet. I love understanding the full process, sometimes (more often than I like to admit) it takes far longer to get done but the process is the fun part for me.
A day in my life.
AM | PM | Evening |
---|---|---|
I usually get up around 6 am to play with my 4 months old daughter, mainly the game is me making coffee and she's rolling around and laughing. | Bringing back Stockholm's best Tacos from La Neta and eating them on the rooftop. | Having dinner with the family. |
Short bike ride to work while listening to the top news. | Having a solution workshop with a new Partner. | Running around Brunnsviken in the evening sun. |
Taking a second cup of coffee with my colleagues to see what’s on the agenda. | Internal sync meeting with a product team to see how we can adapt our solutions. |
3 takes on Klarna.
My favorite Leadership Principle is...
Challenge the status quo. We do great things, but we always can do them better if we only give us time to reflect and speak up.
The best task of the day is ..
seeing a new partner successfully going live.
I’d describe my team as...
best in breed. People I learn from every day and all of them go far beyond what anyone could expect of them.
