Your Klarna bank account in the Klarna app is a secure account for adding and storing money, paying for purchases, and receiving faster refunds. Add money from your external bank or card, earn cashback, and pay at checkout or with your Klarna Card. You only spend what you have added.

Open your Klarna bank account in the Klarna app in a few minutes. Go to Accounts and cards and follow the steps. After we verify your identity, you can add money and start using your account right away. It is free to open and use.

From the Klarna app home screen, tap Add money. You can top up with a debit card in your name, a bank transfer from an account in your name, a credit card, or Apple Pay. A 1.5% fee applies if you use a credit card.

Yes. You can transfer money to a connected bank account held in your name. You can also send money instantly to your debit card, and may be subject to fees.

You can pay in three ways:

1. At checkout, choose your Klarna bank account as your payment method if you have enough money in your Klarna bank account.
2. Pay in stores or online with your Klarna Card using money in your account.
3. For existing Klarna purchases, go to Payments, select your purchase, tap Pay early, and choose your Klarna bank account as the funding source.

To get refunds faster, you can opt to have refunds sent directly to your bank account. Go to Accounts and cards, open Settings, tap on faster refunds. You can change your refund preferences anytime in the app.

Your bank account is covered by the Swedish deposit guarantee scheme in accordance with a decision by the Swedish National Debt Office. The maximum compensation to each customer is SEK 1,150,000 (about EUR 100,000). The National Debt Office will make the compensation available for payment within 7 business days of the date the right to compensation commenced. Read more on the Riksgälden website.
