FAQs about the Klarna app.
Our One-time card is a virtual single-use card to use for shopping at any online store in Ireland. Each time you create a One-time card with Klarna you will receive a unique card number you can use at the store’s checkout, like any regular credit card. Each One-time card then follows a specific payment plan which you can manage and pay in My Klarna.
Please be aware that an authorization hold might be placed on your payment card, depending on the payment option you choose when creating the card. This ensures that enough funds are available on your credit or debit card.
How to create a One-time card
- Shop with us in the Klarna app
Choose Pay with Klarna when you shop in our app or create a new One-time card from the My Klarna tab.
- Set the spending amount
Enter the exact amount, including shipping, that you plan to spend. After entering the amount, you will receive an overview of the agreement as confirmation.
- Check out on the store’s site
When you’re ready to check out, your address details will be prefilled based on our information on file. If we don’t already have your information, you will enter your standard billing and shipping addresses.
- Pay with your One-time card
When you are ready to pay, select the credit card option and enter the One-time card information, as you would with any other card. Enter the card number, expiration date, and CVV code.
- Check the app for updates
If you end up spending less than the amount on your One-time card, you can change the spending amount by selecting Refund unused amount on the purchase page. Otherwise, the amount will automatically be adjusted after 14 days.
Good to know: You can only use a One-time card once and, if unused, the card expires after 24 hours. If you want to make another purchase, just create a new card and keep on shopping.
Where can I use the One-time card?
Everywhere! Choose the Home tab in the Klarna app to use a One-time card at any online retailer. Just search for your favorite store in the search bar, create a One-time card, and use your card when you’re ready to checkout.
How do I pay for the purchases made with the One-time card?
When you first create a One-time card, it will be connected to your personal debit or credit card, according to the payment option you chose when creating the One-time card. Each purchase follows a payment schedule, and payments are automatically made according to the payment plan. You can view your plan, pay early and change your connected debit or credit card at any time in My Klarna.
Your One-time card will expire if you don’t use it at the store’s checkout within 24 hours after it’s created. You can also cancel your One-time card instantly if it’s no longer needed.
When either of these actions occurs, we will cancel any payment plan you might have and remove any holds placed on your card immediately. Depending on your financial institution, it might take between 1 to 7 business days for this to reflect on your account.
To cancel an unused One-time card, just follow these steps:
- Go to My Klarna
- Under One-time cards or Purchases, select the card or payment plan you want to cancel
- Tap Cancel card
Good to know: If you want to make another purchase, just create a new card and keep on shopping.
You can view all your orders, outstanding balance and payments, by logging into the Klarna app. Once logged in, select My Klarna to navigate between your purchases and payments.
Still unable to view your orders?
Orders made with Klarna are linked to the email address the order was placed with. If there is no existing Klarna account registered for the email used, a new Klarna account will be created for that order. So if you are not seeing a specific purchase, it is important to check that you have logged into your Klarna profile with the email address you have used at the checkout . To see what email address is connected to the order you are looking for, just check the confirmation email you received from the store. If the email address is non-existent, we recommend changing the email address.
When you place an order by signing up with Apple ID you have the option of sharing or hiding your email address. If you choose to hide your email address when using your Apple ID a random email address will be created to keep your information private. In this case you won’t be able to see the order in the app as it is linked to the random email address , please chat with our Customer Service to change the email address on the order.
Make sure to download the Klarna app to never miss a payment and be in full control!
‘3 interest-free payments’ is an alternative to traditional credit but without any interest, which allows you to split purchases into 3 payments. These payments will be automatically withdrawn from the debit/credit card you have on file with us every month until the full order amount has been paid. In our app, you’ll also have the option to pay off a single instalment or even the entire balance earlier if preferred.
If your order is eligible for ‘3 interest-free payments’, you can select the option in the checkout and enter your debit or credit card information. As soon as the store ships your order, you will receive an email from Klarna outlining your payment schedule, and we will charge your card for the first instalment. Your purchase and payments will then be visible and manageable in your Klarna App. So make sure to download the Klarna App to stay in complete control and never miss a payment!
