What are Klarna API Credentials?

Klarna API credentials are used to authenticate the API calls your system sends to us. API calls are how your system and Klarna’s system communicate. By authenticating the calls, we can ensure that the requests are legitimate. In this way, you protect your business and we keep our services secure.

API credentials come in the form of a randomly-generated “username” and “password.” You will create and use a set of these credentials during the integration process, and they will only be used for integration and troubleshooting. These will not be your login credentials for the Klarna Merchant Portal – that will be your registered email address, and a password you choose.
