Why won't the app open on my device?

The app will not open because your device does not currently meet Klarna's security standards. That can happen if:
  • Your device has been rooted or jailbroken, or its software has been changed from its original, secure state.
  • The app was not installed from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Your device's operating system or security updates are out of date.
What you can do
  1. 1.
    Uninstall the app and reinstall it from the App Store or Google Play
  2. 2.
    Go to your device's Settings, select Software updates, and follow Apple's or Google's official instructions.
  3. 3.
    Restore your device to its original software configuration if it has been rooted, jailbroken, or otherwise modified. Restoring or updating may require help from your device's manufacturer.
  4. 4.
    Try the app again.
Why this matters
  • Klarna's security requirements evolve to stay ahead of new threats. A device that worked with the app before may not always continue to.
  • Rooting and jailbreaking turn off protections your device relies on. Once those protections are off, apps can be granted access they were never meant to have.
  • The App Store and Google Play are the only sources where we can guarantee the app is genuine and unaltered. Apps from other sources may look identical, but can be modified to remove security protections or include code that was never part of the original app. If your device does not recognize the app as an official install, it will not open.
  • Operating system updates are how manufacturers close newly found security risks. A device running outdated software can leave you exposed to risks other users are already protected against, across every app on your device, including Klarna.
  • In all of these cases, the personal data on your device is at risk, not just inside Klarna, but across everything you use your device for.
