If you are a U.S. resident, you will need to meet the following requirements to open an Alpaca account:
Be at least 18 years old
Have a valid Social Security Number (not a Taxpayer Identification Number)
Have a legal U.S. residential address within the 50 states or Puerto Rico
Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or hold a valid U.S. visa
Acceptable visa types are *** E-1, E-2, E-3, F-1, H1-B, TN-1, J-1, L-1, B-1, B-2, O-1
No. Klarna does not charge any commission fees or regulatory fees for investing.
In order to invest in stocks and funds, you will need to ensure there is money in your Klarna balance account to invest. To add funds to your balance account, simply go to the Wallet tab in the app. Select "Add money" in your Klarna balance. You will add money to your Klarna balance using a debit card.
You can only buy and sell investments during regular trading hours, which are 9:30am to 4:00pm EST, weekdays excluding holidays. Orders placed outside of these hours will be queued up for the next time the market opens.
