Klarnaut of the Month: Holly Whittle.

by Andrew Washford Murphy

Curious to learn more about the ins and outs of Klarna? Desperate to get-to-know our super talented and diverse team? Well, we sat down with the recent recipient of our Klarnaut of the Month award – Holly Whittle – to discuss her Klarna journey thus far, as well as a few other titbits…

What inspired you to work at Klarna?

Before I started at Klarna, I was a fan of the brand and the way their image was shaking things up across the finance industry. I wanted to be a part of a company that was willing to do things differently and not afraid to challenge the status quo.

Can you describe working at Klarna in 3 words?

Energetic, Challenging, Innovative!

What do you love most about your job?

I get to work directly with some incredible brands based out of the North. I’m consistently inspired by their creativity, passion and drive; it’s not something I take for granted!

How does what you do influence Klarna?

My role is to manage Klarna partner marketing relationships and create bespoke campaigns that help drive conversion and traffic for both our partners and Klarna. Ultimately, I work on getting the Klarna name out there across our partners channels.

What’s your biggest accomplishment to date?

Within Klarna, it’d have to be building out a bespoke but risky marketing plan for the Boohoo Group which paid off, and has seen continued incremental growth for both the brand and Klarna. It’s set to be mirrored across multiple other brands in Klarna moving forward.

What did you do that got you the Klarnaut of the Month award?

The UK marketplace has changed (for the better!) with new guidelines and regulations in place, which has sometimes proved challenging, encouraging partners to also be responsible in their marketing of Klarna. I have worked closely with multiple large enterprise retailers including JD, Boohoo and Missguided, to ensure that what they’re creating is compliant and transparent to the end consumer.

What’s your biggest challenge?

My WiFi issues 🙃

If you could have 3 dinner guests, who would you pick and why?

  1. Michelle Obama – if you’ve read ‘Becoming’ you’ll understand, but her passion and drive whilst simultaneously celebrating being a woman of colour is inspiring.
  2. Dolly Parton – I listened to her music with my mum every day as a kid and probably the best songwriter of our lifetime.
  3. Louis Theroux – I feel like he’d have great conversation and I have a secret crush on him

What’s your favourite purchase you’ve ever made using Klarna?

With all the sun we’ve been getting in the UK at the moment I’d have to say my garden furniture, and super convenient paying it in 3.

Who is your role model?

My parents, closely followed by Dolly Parton (I really do love her!)

What’s your favourite Klarna memory?

Being a lockdown recruit, it was most definitely meeting my direct team for the first time face to face! I feel very lucky to be surrounded by such like minded and driven people, not to mention they are super FUN.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A dancing nurse. I realised very quickly those two professions don’t coexist very easily but a girl can dream, right?
